The district of Ajmer is one of the very important districts of the arid state of Rajasthan. The district has its main administrative centre in the city of Ajmer itself. The district is literally flat with some meagre undulations on the eastern part. The Aravalli mountain Range runs through the western part of the district. On the other side of the mountain range starts the Great Indian Desert or the Thar Desert. The district is very arid like the whole of the state of Rajasthan with some little cultivations going around some oasis. There are great differences in the summer and winter temperatures as well as the morning and night temperatures. The district of Ajmer covers a land area of approximately around 8421 sq km with a population of about 25.8 lacs individuals. The district of Ajmer has a population density of about 305 people per sq km of the total area of the district.
