The district of Banswara is bordered by the districts of Dungarpur, Prataphgarh and Udaipur. The district is also bordered by the states of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The district was a part of the princely state of Banswara during the British rule in India. After the independence, the princely state was added to the Indian dominion as a district of the Indian State of Rajasthan. The district is one of the greener districts of the state of Rajasthan with quite good amount of Flora and Fauna that includes teak forests and animals like leopard and Cinkara.
