The district of Rajsamand has its main administrative centre in the city of Rajsamand only. The district is one of the many districts that make up the state of Rajasthan. The district has been given the name because of the fact that it is the home of the lake of Rajsamand. The lake was created in the 17th century by the then ruler of Mewar, Rana Raj Singh. The district came into the map of the districts of India in the year 1991 from the lands of the district of Udaipur. The district of Rajsamand covers up a total land area of approximately around 4768 sq km.
