The district of Pali is one of the important historical districts of the north – western state of Rajasthan. The district has its main centre of administration in the town of Pali itself. The district was under the rule of the great ruler, Kanishka during the Kushana age. Later the great Harshavardhana also ruled the land. Later the land was under the rule of the smaller kingdoms of Mawar, Godwad, and Marwar. This formed a very stronghold of the Rajputana. The district has seen many great battles fought between the Rajput kings and the Mughals. The district of Pali covers a land area that is approximately about 12354 sq km with a population that is roughly equal to approximately 20.3 lacs individuals. The district of Pali has a population density of about 165 people per sq km. The district has the Aravalli Range and Luni River inside the total administrative area of the district.
