The district of Beed is also known as the Bhir or the Bid district by the local people of the state of Maharashtra. The district has been ruled by many rulers in the past. Although not for long periods, the region has seen a lot of rulers and their cultures. The district was previously known as the Champavati Nagari. The district has many stupas and doors that mark the rules of the different dynasties and the eras that they ruled in. These are of quite some fascination for some tourists. The local people of the district of Beed have agriculture as their main occupation as the district gets quite sufficient amount of rainfall and has fertile soil.
