The district of Nanded has its main administrative centre in the city of Nanded itself. The district is located in the eastern part of the virtual region of Marathawada where the majority of the people are Marathi speaking. The River Godavari flows right through the heartland of the district of Nanded. The districts that border Nanded are Parbhani, Latur, Aurangabad and Yavatmal.
