Aurangabad

The district of Aurangabad is named after the great Mughal Ruler Aurangzeb who annexed the region in the 16th century. The district of Aurangabad was a part of the mighty Magadha Empire in the past. The district also has enough links to the Hindu gods like Ram and Krishna. The District has many places of sacred interest for the Hindus. The district of Aurangabad occupies an area of 3389 sq km with a population of 25 lacs individuals approximately. The district accommodates 760 persons in each sq km that it possesses. The district is fed by the River Pun - Pun which is also a sacred place for the Hindus. Apart from this, the district has many deposits of precious astrological stones that are worth in millions. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of the region with paddy, sugarcane and wheat its main agricultural products. Few places of Tourist interest in the district are: Umga, Deo Kund, Amjhar Sharif, Siris, etc.
