The district of Sitamarhi is situated bordering the country of Nepal. The district of Sitamarhi is a part of the Tirhut division. The district derives it names from the Lady Sita. This is the region which is expected to be the birth place of Lady Sita, the wife to Sree Ram. Initially when the district of Sitamarhi was created in the year 1972, it had the Sheohar within itself. The present district came into being in the year 1994, when the district of Sheohar was scrapped off from the land of Sitamarhi. The district of Sitamarhi occupies an area of 2294 sq km. The district has a population count of approximately 34 lacs individuals with 1491 individuals living in per sq km of the district. The main occupation of the people of Sitamarhi is Agriculture because of the fertile land and the ample amount of Water supple that it has. The district is a part of the 250 most backward district of Republic Of India and is currently feeding on the funds that are being given by the Indian Governemnt.
