Lakhisarai district is a part of the Munger division of the state of Bihar. The main administrative centre of the district is the town of Lakhisarai. The district came into existence in the year 1994, when land was split from the Munger district and a separate Lakhisarai district was formed. The Lakhisarai district occupies a land area of 1228 sq km along with a population of 10 lacs individuals approximately according to the 2011 Census conducted by the Government of India. The district has a population density of 815 individuals. The population is very much the same as the Fiji islands. There are four rivers that flow through the region of Lakhisarai district. They are: Ganges, Kiul, Mohane and Harohar. Although the great agricultural prospect that the district has, it is still a part of the 250 most backward district of the Republic of India. The district like amny other district of Bihar is highly dependent on the funds provided by the Backward Regions Grant Fund Program of the Indian Government.
