The district of Banka is the proud Homeland of the patriot Satish Prasad Jha who was sentenced to death by the British Government when he along with 6 others hoisted the Indian Flag at the Secretariat building on 11th of August, 1942. The district of Banka has always been a favourite destination for many expert socialists and activists. The district of Banka is a part of the Bhagalpur Division with an area of 3020 sq km. The district houses approximately 2029339 individuals with a population density of 672 persons living in per sq km. The economy of the district is primarily dependent on the tourists that it gets due to the sacred places of interest for the Hindus and the Buddhists. Apart from this the district of Banka is also known as the ‘Granary of The Bihar state’ considering the amount of Rice and wheat it produces. Chanan is the only river that flows through the district. The people of the district primarily speak an Indo – Aryan tongue that is found in rare places in India.
