The district of Kaimur is headed by the city of Bhabua which in itself is a municipality. The district is surrounded by the district of Buxar, Rohtas. Ghazipur, Chandauli and Mirjapur district of Uttar Pradesh and Garhwa district of the state of Jharkhand. The Past of the district is quite interesting according to many historians. The part was supposedly occupied by the fierce warrior tribes. The region was a part of the Magadha Empire under the rule of the mighty Mauryan and the Gupta kings. In the later part of the history the region went under the rule of the Mughal Emperor and the Delhi Sultanate. The district spans over an area of approximately 340447 hectares. When we are speaking of the geography of the place we can divide the region in two distinct parts: 1. The Plains and 2.The small Hills. The district came into being when it was carved out from the district of Shahabad. There are many places of interest in Kaimur district. Some of them are: Durauli, Baidyanath, Ramgarh, Bhagwanpur, etc.
