The district of Rohtas is a part of the Patna division. The main administrative centre for the district is the city of Sasaram. The City of Sasaram is a spot of historical significance and excellence for the state of Bihar. The Rohtasgarh Fort is located at the outskirts of the district. The district spans up to an area of 3851 sq km with a population that amounts up to 29 lacs individuals approximately. Like many other districts of the state of Bihar, Rohtas District is also forced to experience the rough climate with three distinct seasons. The local deforestation works in the region has led to degradation in the conditions of the area. The district was never a hot spot for agriculture. The district excelled in industries like sugar, cement, chemical, paper, etc. The local troubles between various gangs have led to the downfall of the district. Now it is listed in the 250 most backward districts of India and is currently receiving funds from the Indian Government.
