The district of Nalanda is arguably the most glorified district of the state of Bihar when it comes to education. The Nalanda University is a well known institution that is known to literally all the individuals of the world. The district came into being when it was carved out of the district of Patna in the year 1976. The size of the Nalanda district is roughly equal to the Cornwall Island of the country of Canada with an approximate size of 2355 sq km. The district has been a temporary home to many educational greats of India and people from all over the world. The population of the district is approximately 28 lacs with the population density amounting up to 1220 individuals per sq km. The district is building up industrially with the help of the Indian Government who recently set up the 41st Ordnance Factory of India in the district of Nalanda. The tourism of the district is also on a high owing to the ruins of the Nalanda University.
