The district of Washim is located in the eastern part of the virtual region of Vidarbha of the state of Maharashtra. The district is bordered by the districts of Akola, Hingoli, Amravati, Yavatmal and Buldhana. The district of Washim has its main administrative centre on the main city of Washim itself. The district is mainly fed by the River of Penganga which is of utmost importance to the district. The district has a lot of area that is covered by the hilly tracts that extend from the main segment of the Western Ghats. The district of Washim covers a land area of approximately about 5150 sq km with a population that is very much equal to the population of the country Timor – Leste at 11.9 lacs individuals. The population density of the district of Washim district is approximately around 244 people per sq km of the area. Not a lot is known about the vegetation of the district but some part of the district is covered by wild forests.
