The district of Osmanabad is one of the most important districts of the state of Maharashtra. The district is also a very important part of the virtual Marathawada region of the state of Maharashtra. The district is located in the southern part of the state of Maharashtra with the major part being covered by the Deccan Plateau. The districts of Beed, Solapur, and Ahmednagar border the district of Osmanabad. The district is also bordered by the state of Karnataka. The district has two small rivers of Terna and Manjira flowing through the district.
The district of Osmanabad covers a land area of approximately around 7569 sq km with a population of 16.6 lacs individuals living the total area. The district has a population density of 219 people per sq km. The district plays a very important role in the politics of the state as it is one of the most important legislative assembly seat and a national constituency.
