The district of Hingoli is one of the most important administrative districts of the state of Maharashtra. The district has its main centre of administration in the city of Hingoli itself. The district was initially a part of the Bombay state under the Parbhani district. Later under some reorganisation of the states, the district became a complete separate district. The district is also an important part of the Aurangabad division of the state. The district has quite a lot of area under agriculture but due to some lack of facilities and sufficient rainfall, the production is not of wonders. The district of Hingoli covers a land area of approximately 4526 sq km with a population of approximately around 11.7 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of approximately 244 people per sq km. The district of Hingoli is listed as one of the 250 most backward districts of India.
