Alirajpur

Alirajpur distrist is one of the 50 districts that make up the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district is literally an infant as it was created in the year 2008 when land was taken away from the district of Jhabua. The district of Alirajpur has its main centre of administration in the city of Alirajpur itself. The district was previously a part of the princely state of Ali Rajpur. Before The Independence of India the region was under the Central India Presidency after which it became the part of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1956.The district of Alirajpur covers a land area of around about 2165 sq km with a population of 7.2 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of 229 people per sq km. The district is primarily dependent on agriculture to support its economy. It has an astonishingly low literacy rate of just 37.22% which is the lowest in the state as well as the whole of India.
