The district of Raisen which is an important district of the state of Madhya Pradesh is a part of the Bhopal division of the state. The name of the district of Raisen comes from the royal fort that is located in the region. The district of Raisen is bordered by the districts of Vidisha, Sehore, Sagar, Narasinghapur (Narshimhapur), Sehore and Hoshangabad. The district of Raisen came into being in the year 1950 very much during the time when India achieved the feat of being a republic nation. The district and the places around the region was once a part of the princely state of Bhopal. The district of Raisen covers a land area of approximately 8395 q km with a population of about 13.3 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of 157 people per sq km.
