The district of Barwani is one of the districts that make up the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district of Barwani has the city of Barwani itself serving as the main centre for administrative purposes for the district. The district is located in the south – western part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The boundary of the district is shared by the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra and the districts of Khargone and Dhar. Initially the region under the district was a part of the West Nimar district but the district was created separately in the year 1998.
The Bharwani district occupies an area of approximately around 3665 sq km with a population of 13.5 lacs individuals in a rough estimation. The district has a population density of 256 people per sq km. The district is a part of the list of 250 most backward districts of the country. It depends in the funds given by the government of India for its proper administration.
