The district of Burhanpur came into existence on the map of India in the year 2003 when land was scrapped of from the district of Khandwa. The district is an important part of the state of Madhya Pradesh with its m ain administrative headquarters in the city of Burhanpur. The district of Burhanpur is bordered by the rivers of Tapti and Narmada with the Satpura Range running through the heartland of the district. The district is extremely famous among the local people of the state because of the fact that the district is home to the most famous ‘Dargah’ of the state.
