The district of Hosangabad is one of the important districts of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district of Hoshangabad has its main administrative centre in the city of Hoshangabad itself. The district is bordered by the districts of Raisen, Narsinghpur, Harda, Sehore and Chhindwara. The district was dived in the year 1998 when Harda was created out of the land of Hoshangabad. The district is located in the valley of the River Narmada with the river forming the northern boundary for the district. The district of Hoshangabad covers a land area of approximately 5408 sq km with a population count of approximately about 12.4 lacs individuals. The density of population of the district of Hoshangabad is around about 185 people per sq km. The district is also the home of Panchmarhi which is quite a popular hill station in the state of Madhya Pradesh. A local dialect of Bhunjia is spoken all over the district.
