The district of Neemuch is a part of the districts that comprise the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district is a part of the Ujjain Division and has its main administrative centre in the city of Neemuch itself. The district situated along the borders of the state of Rajasthan and is also bordered by the district of Mandsaur. The district of Neemuch came into being on the grounds of administrative basis when land was scrapped of from the district of Mandsaur in the year 1998. In the past during the British rule in India, Neemuch was a part of the cantonment town of the British Empire. The district of Neemuch covers a land area of approximately around 4257 sq km with a population of 8.25 lacs. The district has a population density of 194 individuals per sq km. The district is literally one of the largest producers of Oilseeds and opium.
