The district of Harda is a part of the Bhopal division of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district has the city of Harda as its main centre for the administrative works of the district. The district of Harda came into being on the Map of India in the year 1998 when it was separated from the district of Hoshangabad in lieu of trouble with administration of the region. The district of Harda is bordered by the districts of Sehore, Betul, Hoshangabad, Khandwa, and Devas. The district is situated in the river valley of Narmada.The district of Harda covers a land area of approximately 2644 sq km with a population of 5.7 lacs individuals. The density of population of the district 171 people per sq km. The district has agriculture as its main occupation. The district is also the home to the youngest ever freedom fighter that India had, Guru Radha Kishan.
