The district of Anuppur is one of the extremely important administrative districts of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district is bordered by the state of Chhattisgarh and the districts of Dindori, Shahdol and Umaria. The district has its main centre of administration in the city of Anuppur. The district of Anuppur came into being in the year 2003 when it was separated from the district of Shahdol. The district is still a part of the Shahdol division. The river basin of the two rivers of Narmada and Son covers the whole of the districts of Anuppur. The district of Anuppur has a land area of around about 3701 sq km. The district houses a population of approximately 7.4 lacs individuals. The density of population of the region is approximately around 200 people per sq km. The majority of the population speaks a language, Bagheli, which is very much similar to Hindi.
