The district of Ashokenagar was formed in the year 2003. The district is an important part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district has the city of Ashokenagar as its main centre for all the administrative purposes. The district is bordered by the districts of Sagar, Vidisha,, Shivpiri and Guna. The district is also bordered by the rivers of Sindh and Betwa. The state of Uttar Pradesh also shares some part of the border with the district. The district of Guna is the parent district of Ashokenagar. The region was ruled by the Scindia family before the formation of democratic settlement. The district of Ashokenagar covers a land area of approximately 4673 sq km with a population of about 8.4 lacs individuals. The density of population for the region is approximately around the mark of 181 people per sq km. The district has agriculture as its main source of income. The district also has quite a few tourist spots which add to the revenue.
